SEREP’s Youth Training Centre Construction Project

PROBLEM
SEREP needs a permanent site for its Youth Training Centre as presently it is renting a local building; this is not a sustainable solution. The rent money saved by having a permanent site will allow us to accommodate more OVC students. Our target is to enroll 50 more OVC students in the 2010 intake.

DESCRIPTION
Completing the first phase of our building. We need to roof the building and complete basic fixtures and fittings such as windows and doors. This will provide us with 4 classrooms and an office.

INVESTMENT
One time investment of 2,653,630 frs = 5,641 USD = 3,517 GBP

MAINTENANCE / YEAR
Building up keep 50,000 frs = 100 USD = 60 GBP

ESTIMATED RETURNS
50% more OVC pupils in the school.
240,000 frs = 480 USD = 300 GBP per year saved on rent.
168,000 frs = 340 USD = 210 GBP rent saved for school.

ESTIMATED SOCIAL IMPACT
50 more OVC educated.
50 OVCs become economically self-sufficient and kept off the streets.
100 Carers and families of OVCs freed of the financial burden of sending an OVC child to school.
Kumbo has a higher percentage of educated people, trained for employment which allows it to develop.
OVC pupils are given a secure, supportive environment in which to grow and learn.

Give The Gift Of Education – Sponsor A Child

PROBLEM
SEREP runs a Youth Training Centre and offers assisted places for OVC pupils. Within Kumbo there are more OVCs than SEREP can support.

DESCRIPTION
Paying the school fees and for the material items the child will need to study.

INVESTMENT
Once a year of 80,000frs = 150 USD = 100GBP. Per child.
The course lasts for 4 years total investment of 320,000 frs = 600 USD = 400 GBP. Per child.

MAINTENANCE / YEAR
85,000frs = 150USD = 100GBP.  (50% for school fees and 50% for child resources) Per child

More OVC pupils enrolled in the school.
